“ The food tonight was amazing! I brought my cousin that was visiting from Northern California. We had the souvlaki plate and it was paired nicely with a Greek Pinot Noir! Great food! Great atmosphere and great service! Thank you Greg and Dimitri! Compliments to your chef Anastasia! ”

“ I have been wanting to try Greektown for quite a while as I'd heard great things about it, but they're closed on Sunday which is our usual "date night" due to work schedules. This family owned and run restaurant is exactly what dining should be! We were greeted as soon as we walked in and seated soon thereafter, near the Santorini picture, which made .t husband comment about how happy that would make me. I didn't catch his name, but it was one of George's sons taking care of us, asked if we'd ever been to Greece and I told him no but it's on my bucket list. He then offered me a copy of the travel tips sheet that his Dad had written out. As he was getting that for me, George came over and greeted us and said he had several drinks he could make for us or wine, but when I said we don't really drink, he immediately mentioned the apple lemonade tea that he made, which sounded great - and it was! He didn't try to push any alcohol on us at all, which I appreciate. George then mentioned the calamari which I said we were definitely getting as I'd read about it and it looked great. And with an Italian husband, you know we've had a lot of calamari. This was so good. Different then Italian with the lemony sauce, and not at all greasy from the frying, and could be my new favorite. All of the entrees come with soup and salad. The soup is a lemon rice soup, traditional Greek, and was excellent. The salad came out with the entrees and was a lightly dressed Greek salad. So fresh! My entree was the Shrimp Grigori - stuffed with rock crab and served over rice. It was delicious! My husband went with the Titans Tortellini with the meat sauce. He cleaned his plate! This isn't your Italian grandmother's meat sauce. It was sweeter with a hint of cinnamon. Different, but so good. We hadn't planned to order dessert, but then we overheard George telling another table about the "one dessert" that he makes. It's more of a trio. As soon as my husband heard the word cheesecake, his head snapped up. Yep, we ordered it - to go and shared it at home. Mousse was good. Baklava was good. But the cheesecake!!! O M G - probably the best cheesecake I've ever had and as someone who makes a really good cheesecake, that's saying a lot. George was present in the dining room. He visited every table multiple times. This is a man who loves what he does and his heritage and he takes pride in all of it. They made us feel very welcomed and appreciated. And to top off the Greek experience, when George learned that we were all "Greektown virgins" (aka first-timers) in the restaurant at that time, he had to break a plate for us. And of course we all yelled Opa! We'll definitely be back when we can rearrange our schedules again, but if you want a true taste of Greece, get yourself to Greektown! ”

“ I found this restaurant on a whim one day on Yelp years ago and my friend and I went to check it out and the food and the people were quite amazing. I would go back to Greektown every so often when the craving for a good meal hit me and what I mean by that was when I lived in Detroit, Michigan on every Friday all of girls who worked in offices nearby would venture over to one of many Greek restaurants and indulge in great food and Ouzo. Well, I then moved to the desert some 40yrs ago and knew that one day I would find this restaurant called Greektown. After many trips to this place on 7th Street I realized I was going down memory lane in my head. I had turned 70 this year and I wanted to share my birthday with friends & family here at the Greektown restaurant. I called George and asked if I could bring 11 people to his restaurant to help celebrate my birthday and he said yes. George welcomed us with open arms and a genuine care, setting the tone for a unforgettable evening. While we waited for our tables George made us feel right at home offering warm hospitality that stood out immediately and a tasty sangria I might add. After dinner I asked each of my guest the same question how was your meal? And each one smiled and said you did it again another fine meal with amazing food & impeccable service. “ Amazing place. It's dark and has cool murals on the walls, the bar is centrally located as sort of the social hub. The whole family seems to work there and treats you like one of them. The food is delicious, like truly the best Greek food I've had in Phoenix. It's a great spot for a date night with a little character. ”

I can not begin to express enough how the calamari will change your life. I will be dreaming of this for months until we come back to AZ from MN. HOMEMADE Tzatziki sauce (they make their own yogurt for the sauce as well), dolmades for days, saganaki, all the things you want from a Greek restaurant. The building from outside doesn't have a "Wow" factor, but the second you step in, you are family. George is super welcoming and an excellent host! His sons Dmitri and Gregory are the best! Wish we had them back in Minneapolis!! Lots of interesting Greek liqueur as well (Mastika for one - very earthy and sweet). Hope to try some Galaktaboureko next time! DEFINITELY make this a stop next time you're looking for Greek cuisine!! ”

“ So, Mediterranean food isn't usually at the top of my list but I have to say that the food here is excellent. This is a family run restaurant that has been around for years. The owner is very personable and his two sons are cook and waiter. We had a calamari appetizer which was superb and then I ordered the super spicy gyro sandwich. An excellent choice. I also had the wine of the day (a tasty Cabernet) and the owner gave us blue ouzo (a potential addition to the menu) to finish off the meal in honor of one of our party being ready to give birth (very pregnant-no she didn't drink any!) There is a good-sized parking lot. I think you should try this restaurant as it is a perfect place for a date and a flavorful meal. ”

“ What's not to love? Two brothers and a dad running the show. Super friendly service. Great food. I love Greek food and yes I've been to Greece and loved it there too. There are other items on the menu I'd like to try but for the first time here I went with the classic gyro, which had plenty of great tasting meat. It also came with a very tasty salad. Since it was dark outside and I wasn't driving, I'm not sure what the outside looked like nor where we were, but the inside was warm and inviting. Going to have to look this place up again and come back soon. ”
